Ashley Dingle has been appointed as the Manager of the Gould Business Incubator at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology at Florence-Darlington Technical College.
She is an experienced professional with a strong background in sales and finance garnered by working in commercial banking for five years. This experience helped Ms. Dingle gain valuable knowledge about how small businesses operate and thrive in the coastal region of South Carolina. She has now returned to her hometown of Florence and is excited about the opportunities for economic growth, increased employment and creation of successful emerging companies in the area.
Currently Dingle is implementing a series of classes that will provide the necessary tools that help start-up companies increase their chances of long term sustainability. These interactive fast passed classes will involve industry experts as instructors and will be beneficial for clients, students and interested parties in the Florence-Darlington area.
“Incubators can be instrumental during the initial stages of start-ups when most businesses fail. At the Gould Business Incubator, we are building a collaborative work environment for tenants, local companies and the students with the goal of economic development throughout Florence, Darlington and the state of South Carolina,” Dingle stated.
Business incubators reduce the risk of small business failures. Historically, NBIA member incubators have reported that 87 percent of all firms that have graduated from their incubators are still in business.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from Francis Marion University.
The Incubator features 18 multi-use spaces, 7 fully furnished offices, and 1 co-working space. New businesses have access to the SiMT’s manufacturing facility and capabilities, free telephone and internet, color copier, fax and printing, high tech conference rooms with large screen AV presentation ability, a dining area and access to the Florence Area Small Business Development Center to assist with business plans.
